Many guys seem to have trouble when it comes to communicating what they want with their barber/hairstylist.
In this post I'm going to teach you guys how to effectively ask your barber for the hairstyle that you want.
Before you do anything you have to find the proper barber or hairstylist.
I can't stress this enough – without the right barber it will be impossible to get the style you want because not all barbers are experienced in trendy haircuts.
When you're attempting to find a barber here are some tips to help you out:
- Avoid chain stores
- Check reviews online
- Important: Type in "Barbershop + Instagram + your city"
Most barbershops experienced in cutting trendy styles will show them off on social media; this is an incredibly easy way to find a competent barber experienced in cutting all the latest styles.
Now when it comes to actually asking for the style you want there are many things you can do.
1. Bring in a picture!
Find a hairstyle you like on our website, put it on your phone and show it to your barber. Very simple.
2. Name the haircut.
For example, everyone knows what a Mohawk is and what it should look like, or a pompadour – if you know the name of the style you want, tell your barber.
3. Explain the haircut.
This one is a little harder, for example, when you're asking for an undercut you want to tell your barber to keep it short on the sides and back with length on top, you can even get more specific by telling him if you want the sides faded or disconnected. Knowing the different terminology's can help but simply explaining it also works too.
Hopefully you now have an idea on how to get the best out of your barber,
